Life in Mongolia 2014
Mongolians excel in Latin Ballroom Dancing. They seem to have the technical precision, dramatic expression, flexibility and strong hip action required. And they can dance beautifully. We attended one of the competitions that a friend of ours entered. Also, during our years in Mongolia I would often take long walks, I guess for 3 reasons. I loved the adventure of it all and the beautiful things about the country. Second, there are not many place in the city where you can really rest your mind. Pick-pocketers are in so many places so one must be alert all the time. There are open manholes to watch out for, and care must be taken not to step on a manhole cover! I know several people who were seriously hurt trusting that the cover would not move when stepped on! Third, I always sought tor time to exercise. Basketball was great and you can find a makeshift court many places and there are gyms open all year round so many times I played basketball with students, friends, or pickup games. I also loved to walk along the railroad tracks and to take photos of the trains when they passed by. It was only a few minutes' walk to get on the tracks and get to the countryside.
This year Bernard and Hazel Hull came for a visit to us and also had the opportunity to speak of the Lord in several venues. Great time with them! And later in the year Roger and Pam Shuttleworth, also dear friends, came for a visit and more opportunities opened up for them to speak of Jesus. These visits were greatly appreciated at this time in our life in Mongolia.
I visited quite a few Mongolian schools to introduce them to LEI. I loved that. The kids were always willing to talk and hear from us about America and English We had "Red Day" at LEI just for fun. No special reason :) And every year MIU had a fashion show to display the sensible or extravagant or flamboyant styles created by the designers.
Here are three groups of photos of Our Mongolian Life, Mongolia International University, and Church Life.
