Mongolia 2009 - the Countryside

The countryside is beautiful in Mongolia. Outside of the main cities the population is very sparse. The people live is small villages or as nomads. The land sometimes looks like the sloping hills and mountains of Montana, sometimes like the arid western states in America. But the culture is so different and the mountains and hills and steppes so different... a wonder to see! Sometimes you come upon sparse herds of cattle, or horses, or camels, or sheep and goats. Friends took Richard and Kathy into the countryside on some occasions. You can see some of the things they saw. There are also some national parks set aside by some concerned people that are magnificent.
